Enjoy the 2020 Passion Play in Oberammergau with Cosmos Tours

The world-famous Oberammergau Passion Play is performed by the locals of Oberammergau in Germany just once a decade. In 1634, the Black Plague devastated Europe’s population. Oberammergau remained untouched until a homesick villager returned one night, unknowingly bringing with him the dreaded plague. Almost 100 villagers died as a result. Frightened survivors vowed that if God saved them from the plague, once every 10 years, they would reenact the agony and crucifixion of Christ. From then on, there were no further deaths from the plague, and the villagers have fulfilled their pledge ever since. In 2020, join the Globus Family of Brands to watch this spectacular event that only happens once every 10 years! The play will run from May through to October and runs for 8 hrs, including a 3-hour intermission for dinner. The play portrays the Passion of Christ, from His entry into Jerusalem to the Resurrection. The play is spoken in German, with no English translations. The Passion Play usually consists of 2,000 actors, singers, musicians, and technicians a of which are residents of Oberammergau. The Passion Play Theater has an open-air stage framed by magnificent alpine scenery - Cosmos guests will enjoy first-class seating.
